Cracking IT gets cooking at Baggator

Cracking IT is the women’s IT group that meets every Wednesday at Baggator between 1 and 3pm. We are learning how to run a social media campaign and this week we spoke to the people behind Diverse Delights.

What is Diverse Delights

Diverse Delights is a vegetarian cookery class with a group of people who would like to learn cookery and skill swap. This is the beginning and when it picks up, people from different cultures will share different cooking skills. We are looking forward to learning and tasting Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Moroccan, Punjabi, West Indian and traditional English cookery.

It is a friendly group and it will get you out of the house. If you are feeling isolated this is a great way to make new friends. If you can’t cook definitely come, everything is taught from scratch so you don’t need to know anything to start.

You will learn the skill to cook something in the Baggator kitchen. You can eat it with your new friends and take some home too. Don’t forget to bring a takeaway container because we are trying to be green.

For the first session we made:

  • Curried Lentils (which is Dal in Punjabi)
  • Plain rice.
  • Pakoras
  • Raita

As the leader was cooking she was explaining what is what. Dal is very easy, people chopped onions, they were shown what amount of spices and garlic to use. There was loads of food and we are looking forward to the next session.

You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Please let us know if you want to be involved.

Cracking IT is funded by Sword Apak.
